From the Manufacturer
MBT shoes are physiological footwear--the first footwear that has a positive effect on the entire body. MBT stands for "Masai Barefoot Technology." Their innovative design includes a multi-layered, curved sole which makes for a unique and rewarding walking experience. The key to MBT is its patented sole structure. The shank, PU midsole with Pivot and the Masai Sensor create a soft surface that is akin to walking barefoot on springy moss or on a sandy beach. This creates a natural instability underfoot, which activates the supporting muscle system and has positive effects on the entire body. Wearing MBTs significantly improves your gait and posture and relieves pressure on your joints and back. It also exercises a large number of muscles, whether you¿re walking or standing. This, in turn, stimulates your metabolism, burns extra calories and speeds up muscle regeneration. In addition, MBTs can have a firming effect on abdominal, leg and buttock muscles. Wearing MBT shoes can also be a therapeutic tool for back, hip, leg and foot problems. At MBT they don't believe in shoes. They believe in footwear that makes you better from the ground up.
Customer Reviews
yes they are unusual looking but they feel good!
Ok the MBT shoe is freaky looking. I admit it. But *wow* what an amazing shoe!
I have 3 problems when I walk:
1) shin splints
2) lower back
3) super klutz I fall, trip etc.
I have had my MBT shoes for a month now. I walk about 3 miles 3 times a week with the MBT shoes. With the MBT shoes I no longer have had problems with my shin splints. When I walk, my lower back hasn't hurt, and although there is no heel I haven't fallen once - yet. At first it was weird to have that rocking sensation but I don't even notice it anymore.
I have definitely noticed that my calf muscles and leg muscles have been worked I can feel it! so don't wear them a lot in the beginning esp if you are out of shape or haven't used those muscles.
The MBT's are super comfortable. They are super cushy and feel great. I really love mine.
However there are a few things to consider when you buy them - you need to buy a larger size. I normally wear a 36/37 and I bought a 37 2/3. Also they are very expensive so they are an investment. But I do think they are worth it. I haven't met anyone else who owns them so I don't know what other people think but I am really happy to have bought them.
MBT - Little Red Life Savers
PAIN! Sciatica! Lower back problems! PAIN! I walked like an old woman (well, I am kind of old) all bent over. A sporty friend popped in to show of her new shoes. "Look like boats", I said. "They'll help your back", says she. I was off to find some boats of my own. Tried them on, walked around. Went home. Went to Amazon. Little Mary Janes at less than half price. A few days later, I was struttin' my stuff, pain free, improved posture. Asked Amazon for a second pair. Blue sandals this time. MBT's have changed my life, no kidding. TRY THEM.
LOVE MBT shoes
I love MBT shoes. I just started wearing them and noticed immediate differences in the way my knees, hips, and lower back felt. The Lami sneaker does run small. I have a short fat foot, but I typically wear a size 7 in everything (unless the shoe is very narrow). With these I read the reviews and ordered a half size up and they are just perfect. So comfortable and everyone notices them and asks what they are. I LOVE the rocking motion and the fact they work my legs. I won't wear anything other than MBTs... get the discontuined models to save big $$$.
